Executive Software.

UdServe.exe
(Executive Software)
Background task/service which is part of Executive Software’s Undelete product.
Recommendation :
Leave alone as it is essential to the proper functioning of Undelete. The most common complaint about UDSERVE is excessive CPU usage reaching such extent that it may almost grind your PC or server to a halt. In the vast majority of cases upgrading to the latest version of Undelete solves the problem.

Udserve.exe is a program called Undelete by Executive Software. It would appear that there is something wrong with this program and it is causing problems with your system. I would uninstall this application.

HI There,
I would try stopping the undelete service In control Panal/Anmin Tools to ascertain that this is indeed the problem.
If your CPU Utilisation drops to normal levels then it would seem as though Undelete has a problem with the failed hard drive being replaced and some interaction with the recycle bin is non functional.
If so, uninstall Undelete and re-install after a reboot.
Try this and see how you get on.

Hi,
Your CPU is probably working to rebuild (or try to)the RAID ARRAY.
The time could be the time since you changed the HD and now.
And if Udelete has a Monitoring or Admin console, check to delete the recovery informations for files, delete if necessary
Sounds like it is trying to recover and wants the disk with signature XXXXX (the defective HD you changed), -> drive not found -> can not execute job and hangs...

Hi Again,
Given the time frame ie; Last Week since the HD Failure I think the Array will by now be re-initialised.
Seeming as the Process UDServe is showing High CPU Utilisation I still think that this is where the answer lies.
If however you want to check the Array status you can do so by choosing Control Panel/Admin Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management (IF A SOFTWARE RAID) and checking the status on the Raided Disk.
Or by rebooting and entering the Raid Controller Bios (IF A HARDWARE RAID) and checking Raid Intergrity there.

I just had a similar problem arfer Kazaa crashed while I was doing a defrag on another drive. the system got really slow and choppy. the UDserve.exe was using 99% of my cpu. I rebooted a couple of times but it was really slow all along. rebooting didn"t help any. ulimatly I rebooted into safe mode and emptied the recovery bin this seemed to solve the hourglass in the recoverybin issue. I then uninstalled Executive undelete as it does not give me any function I don"t already have in the recycle bin or with other tools. I did see a posting that suggested that an upgrade of Undelete was more stable.
good luck
