is it possible to play back an mp3 with KOLMediaPlayer, with an unkwnown length? (that means an mp3 which is currently being written to by another process such as a cd-ripper or streamripper application)

because mediaplayer.play() requires startposition and endposition but the length increases, it is not played. maybe it can be done via SendCommand(MCI_PLAY, ????)

You don"t want to make a second copy of the file in a temp directory and play from there? I believe that"s what some of the file sharing apps do when you want to preview a download.

it is possible like this, but the second copy will be played just until the end of it. the mp3 which is created by my KOL streamripper program ( http://krazz.net/retnyg/mp3proxy.htm ) grows continuously and i have to play that one, to not get small (1-2 seconds) break between each part of a temp mp3.

For streaming you can use the MS ACM API. I will publish an example on my site in a couple of days (It is not easy! and hardly documented)
