Скажите, пожалуйста, какой максимальный объем винта может быть установлен под системой FAT32?
И из каких соображений производятся расчёты?

The implementation of FAT32 in Windows 2000 limits the maximum number of clusters on a FAT32 volume that can be mounted by Windows 2000 to 4,177,918. This is the maximum number of clusters on a FAT32 volume that can be formatted by Windows 98. Advantages of FAT32 FAT32 has the following enhancements: The root folder on a FAT32 drive is an ordinary cluster chain and can be located anywhere on the volume. For this reason, FAT32 does not restrict the number of entries in the root folder. FAT32 uses smaller clusters (4 KB for volumes up to 8 GB), so it allocates disk space more efficiently than FAT16. размер_диска = размер_кластера * количество_кластеров

количество_кластеров < 2^32-2 = 4294967294 размер_кластера = 4096 размер_диска = 4096*4294967294 = 17 592 186 036 224 b = 17 179 869 176 Kb = 16 777 215 Mb = 16 383 Gb ~ 16 Tb

по моему так. Может ошибся в два раза

Больше ошибся - в 16 раз, размер кластера может быть 64 кб

Размер зависит от оси и биоса. Старые биосы не видят больше 32Г. Старые оси (95) - больше 8ми. Кроме того, 95 не может видеть лог. диски более 2Г.

Это если FAT16, с FAT32 (osr2) и обычным биос 128 гб (LBA28)

И еще есть предел в 128G. Насколько я понял, может потребоваться замена IDE контроллеров (или установка дополнительного) для дисков больших размеров. Многие retail HDD с размером более 128G идут в комплекте с IDE контроллером. Я покупал диск на 200G и на 180G и в обоих случаях он был.

В этих контроллерах и на новых платах LBA48
Правда этого недостаточно, требуется еще и драйвер в ОС

интересно, а какое ограничение в NTFS4,5?

Вроде порядка 1 миллионат терабайт, по крайней мере MS SQL сервер заявляет такие характеристики для одной базы
